What we see

Your searches

When you type a city or ZIP, the text is sent to our server as you type, to suggest places, and again when you search, to find restaurants nearby. It's also in the address of the results page.

Your location

Your location is only used if you tap near me and allow your browser to share it. We round it to four decimal places (still accurate to about 35 feet), put it in the address of the results page, and send it to our server to find restaurants near you. Because it's in the page address, sharing that link shares your location.

Cookies

The site sets no cookies and doesn't use your browser's local storage.

Analytics and ads

There are none today. If we ever add analytics or advertising, we will update this page first.

Who else sees it

Microsoft Azure

The site and its server run on Microsoft Azure, which receives your IP address and each request, like any web host. We use Azure Application Insights to keep a log of requests to our server so we can fix problems. That log can include the address of each request, which contains what you searched for or your rounded location. It is kept for 30 days.

Google Fonts

The site's lettering comes from Google Fonts, so your browser fetches it from Google, which sees your IP address.

Children

The site is for parents. It isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from children.
